
The Pubs and Coaching Inns of Guildford
Guildford, as the county town and a market town has had a great number of pubs over the years - at one point 30 in the High Street alone. In the 18th/early 19th centuries, it was famous for its Coaching Inns, as it lies on the London-Portsmouth Road. The Coaching Trade was a very important aspect of the town's prosperity, and many fascinating facts can be learned on the Tour. Guildford also had many breweries, and quite a number of Temperance Hotels too!
