On the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings, we will remember some of the remarkable experiences of living in Guildford during the Second World War.
Almost every aspect of life was affected by the war; family life, work, community life and entertainment amongst others. Extraordinary defence measures were taken, and in some cases, we can see still see the evidence of these today. Join this walk to recall the impact of war on townsfolk at that time.
Meeting Point: Tunsgate Arch, High Street, GU1 3AA, opposite the Guildhall Clock
Duration: 2 hours. This will be longer than our usual walks. We will start at Tunsgate Arch in High Street and the route will take us across Stoke Park as far as Guildford Spectrum before returning a different way back to High Street.
